David’s involvement in successful launches of innovative drilling equipment, casing exit and directional drilling automation technologies speaks to his broad experience, but ultimately it is his aspiration to bring significant consequence and economics to a client’s operation.

Jake Benton

Field Consultant

Jake Benton has 38 years of oilfield experience. He spent 30 years working on the service side of the O&G Industry for Halliburton, The Western Co/BJ Services and Trican. He has worked in Operations and Management performing all duties from Field Supervision to writing cement & stimulation procedures. He spent extensive time working in multiple product service lines including Stimulation, Cement, Wireline & Coiled Tubing. He has extensive knowledge of service company equipment & formation characteristics, which gave him the foundation to become a Consultant.​ In 2010 he started Benton Consulting, LLC and has worked as a well site Consultant since that time. He has completed multiple wells in the Eagle Ford and Austin Chalk formations in Central & South Texas. He has worked extensively as a Consultant in the Marcellus Shale working well stimulations, rig assist snubbing operations, and coiled tubing clean-outs. He also has experience in horizontal fishing operations. He has worked in north Louisiana completing high pressure wells in the Haynesville Shale and has also completed wells in Wyoming, California and West Texas.

Kate Ruddy Elliott, P.E.

Engineer

Kate Ruddy Elliott is a consulting engineer with nearly ten years of oilfield experience, primarily in drilling onshore unconventional wells. She has experience in developing workflows and digital tools to better utilize data in oilfield operations and has published multiple papers relating to the digitization of drilling and completions operations. She has held various positions with Devon, Anadarko, and Occidental in drilling, completions, data analytics, and commercial teams. Kate holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Vanderbilt University.

Alistair Charlton

Engineer

Alistair Charlton is a consultant engineer at Complete Shale, a consulting firm specialized in horizontal drilling and well completion. Alistair has more than 20 years of oilfield field experience in drilling optimization, directional drilling, drilling best practices, and designing and leveraging data systems within Real Time Operating Centers (RTOCs). His broad experience working both onshore and offshore in Europe, Asia, Missile East, Africa, and North America gives him many operational perspectives to apply to your operations. Whilst in the USA he worked as a supervisor in Chesapeake Energy’s RTOC, Drilling project supervisor for Devon Energy’s RTOC and Technology group, and Pioneer Resources PXDrill optimization team and RTOC. He was also a co-author on SPE paper 187337-MS “Stop, Drop and Circulate; An Engineered Approach to Coiled Tubing Drillouts.” Alistair holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Geology from the University of Plymouth and a PgD in Drilling and Well Engineering from The Rober Gordon University in Aberdeen.

Charles Pope, P.E.

Owner & Founder

Charles Pope is the founder of Complete Shale, a consulting firm specialized in horizontal drilling and well completion. Charles has more than 35 years​ of oilfield engineering, including the first horizontal well in the Austin Chalk in the late 1980s. Charles serves on the board of the SPE ATCE Well Completions Committee and the SPE Workshop: Application of Integrated Diagnostics for Unconventional Resource Development Committee. He has authored multiple technical papers. While working at Devon, he was the Completions Technology Supervisor, where he led a team focused on optimizing coiled tubing interventions. He has held various positions with Sun, XTO Energy, and Pinnacle Technology. Charles formed Complete Shale 2010. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Oklahoma. Charles served as an SPE Distinguished Lecturer for 2018-2019.
